LEARNING LAB, INC.
Since 1991, Learning Lab has been creating opportunities through education and fulfilling its mission of enhancing the literacy skills of under-educated families and adults. As the largest nonprofit family literacy and adult basic skills center in the Treasure Valley, Learning Lab serves approximately 250 low-income functionally illiterate adults and their at-risk birth to six-year-old children each year. Through three core programs – Adult Basic Skills, English Language Learning, and Preschoolers and Parents as Partners Family Literacy Program – motivated, determined students learn the skills they need to break the cycle of illiteracy and become enriched, self-sufficient members of their families, workplaces and communities.
Learning Lab’s literacy programs provide crucial educational intervention to developmentally at-risk birth to six-year-old children as well as their parents. Without intervention these children are truly at risk of continuing the cycle of illiteracy and welfare dependence. Forty percent of the revenues generated by FUNDSY will be used to enhance the Preschoolers program by providing funds to complete the outdoor environment of the preschool which will promote large-motor development necessary for language skill enhancement.
NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES, INC.
Neighborhood Housing Services is a statewide partnership of residents, private business and government working together to promote strong neighborhoods as the foundation of a healthy and vibrant community. They accomplish this through a resident-centered program of neighborhood revitalization, leadership development, and the commitment to and development of affordable housing and homeownership opportunities. NHS builds affordable single family homes and multifamily communities for Idaho’s families and by community service programs such as Paint the Town and Rake Up Boise.
In 2005 NHS purchased an office building within which they coordinate their programs. Forty percent of the revenues generated by FUNDSY will be used to pay down the principal balance of the mortgage on their new building allowing them to use part of their space to establish a Home Ownership Center that will facilitate home ownership opportunities through education, financial training workshops and other services necessary to promote support of housing for all Idahoans.
THE FRIENDS OF THE IDAHO HISTORICAL MUSEUM, INC.
The Friends of the Museum is a support organization for the Idaho State Historical Museum and as such its purpose is to promote the appreciation of Idaho history through educational programs and to help preserve historical collections by developing and implementing projects and service activities in support of and as fundraising benefit to the Historical Museum.
The Friends is currently working on a project with the Museum to transform Pioneer Village into a vital outdoor educational area by restoring and improving the historic buildings, adding permanent exhibits, and adding a Lewis and Clark Discovery Trail. The Friends will use twenty percent of the money raised by FUNDSY to create the Lewis and Clark Discovery Trail in Pioneer Village next to the Museum in Boise.
