FUNDSY Announces 2018 Gala Beneficiary Organization

FUNDSY is the first, largest and most successful charity auction in the Boise area, and has raised more than $7.6 million for various community projects.

BOISE, Idaho, Feb. 24, 2017 — FUNDSY is thrilled to announce its 2018 Gala beneficiary organization is TRICA: Treasure Valley Institute for Children’s Arts. The organization was chosen from 27 applications received from local nonprofits seeking to receive funds raised during this FUNDSY cycle. FUNDSY raises money for a selected nonprofit on a two-year cycle through the proceeds from the live auction at the FUNDSY gala, as well as ticket sales from that event and the biennial FUNDSY golf tournament.

TRICA is seeking funding to finish renovations on their building that will be TRICA’s Center for Learning and the Arts. This center will be a permanent home base for TRICA and will allow the organization to strengthen and expand their programming throughout Ada County. The community has experienced the value of TRICA over the last 23 years; the organization currently impacts up to 3,000 children annually throughout the Treasure Valley. By having a home of its own, TRICA will be able to conservatively triple the number of children it inspires by expanding existing programs and launching new ones – all in response to community demand. This is the first time the organization has been a FUNDSY beneficiary.

“It is always very difficult to select just one project from so many worthy of consideration,” said FUNDSY Board President Remy Pop. “This year was no different, however, we feel very strong about the prospects of FUNDSY helping TRICA take a significant step towards completing a defining project in their lifecycle as an organization.”

FUNDSY’s 2016 beneficiary, Camp Rainbow Gold, was awarded $240,000 raised through the 50th anniversary FUNDSY gala in May 2016 and at the FUNDSY golf tournament in September 2015.

About FUNDSY:

FUNDSY, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in 1967 to raise funds for charitable and community capital improvement projects. The organization began when community leaders came together to raise money for capital improvements at the downtown Boise YMCA (“Funds Serving the Y” became “FUNDSY”). After several years of successful auctions, founders decided to accept proposals from nonprofits and choose beneficiaries on alternate years.

Because funds for capital improvements are more difficult for charities to secure (grants and corporate giving are usually restricted to program support), founders decided FUNDSY would fill the important need for “brick and mortar” growth of our community’s arts, education, civic and social service nonprofit organizations.
